Tonight’s game started at a very high tempo and it didn’t take too long before the 286 spectators saw the first goal, North Leigh’s number 9 Seacole strolled onto a Mendes cross and put the ball past a stranded Sawyer in the Evesham goal, 1-0 to the visitors after just 8 minutes. The Robins were pushing the ball around the park when a Dovey pass found Bryan on the edge of the box, whose cross found Peel who converted with ease to bring the Robins level.

In the 21st minute Adam Mann’s shot was blocked by former Robin Will Wellon, with the game now flowing for both sides Seacole headed over the bar from North Leigh’s 2nd corner. A great piece of passing football led to Mann picking up the ball, laying it off to Binns who’s powerful shot was parried by Agboola only to be fired in Greg Peel, giving him his second of the night and Evesham United the lead. The Robins kept applying the pressure with North Leigh finishing the first half finding it difficult to get out of their half of the pitch.

The second half started with Evesham again having some good early possession, however it was North Leigh who had the first meaningful shot in the 53rd with a free kick going just over the bar, obviously a wakeup call for the Robins as they went straight up the other end with Mann getting on the end of yet another Jordan Bryan cross to give Evesham a 3-1 lead. North Leigh cut the deficit in the 77th minute when an uncharacteristic mistake by Sawyer gifted Liam Carroll a goal.

Evesham created a couple more chances with Binns firing just wide of the post and an excellent strike by Brown being saved by Agboola. The nerves seemed to be spilling from the stands onto the pitch, after a very nervy last 8 minutes the referee blew the final whistle with the Robins securing a 3-2 victory and all three points.
