On an afternoon where both sides had to play against the conditions with the wind playing a big part in the game, good possession from both sides in the early stages of the game meant the game had an even start, the order of the day would be to try and keep the ball on the floor and out of a disruptive wind.

As the game settled down it was the visitors Highworth Town that seemed to be able to cope with conditions the better, they got their well-deserved reward for their efforts in the 14th minute when Josh Parson’s 25-yard shot beat the keeper to give them the lead.

The home side to then decided it was their turn to show they could also cope with the tough conditions, a great break down the left from Cory Simpson before his long-range pass found an unmarked Marley Thomas whose shot was wide of the target.

Highworth were able to double their lead in the 32nd minute, a poor Clearance was intercepted by a former Robin in the shape of Ashley Edenborough who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.
Evesham albeit against the run of play, managed to pull one back in first Half injury time through a superbly struck Cory Simpson free kick.

The game was all level just after the hour when Turley & Haskayne hassled the visitor’s midfield, putting them under constant pressure, followed by Sean Brain’s defence splitting ball which was met by Kye Simpson and his 15 yard strike found the net.

Rory Sproule restored the visitors lead with a header on 73 minutes, yet again the visitors doubled their advantage just a minute later when some awful defending allowed Toumani Sidibe a powerful shot which managed to find the back of ‘The Robins’ net.

Finally, the home side seemed to be coming back into the game, they started to look the stronger of the two sides, they seemed to spark into life with some belief returning to the side when Corey Simpson was able to poke the ball home in a crowded box, reducing the deficit and giving the faithful Evesham fans a reason to become very noisy.

It was then the turn of Corey’s brother Kye to find the back of the net, which he duly did in the 90th minute to make the game all square.

The 5 minutes of injury time passed with neither side threatening their opponents’ goal and the points were shared.
