Carl Brown scored equaliser

Evesham United and Redditch shared a 2-2 draw in an entertaining pre-season friendly at the Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium. In a good work out for both sides it was Evesham who took a 27th minute lead. A collision outside the area between Reds goalkeeper Sam Hornby and Jordan Anderson ended with the ball rolling kindly to Linden Dovey who coolly slotted into an empty net.

Evesham striker Carl Brown who was a constant threat throughout, forced Hornby into making two fine saves before play switched to the opposite end resulting in a Redditch equaliser on 38 minutes. Passeka Kargbo was brought down by defender Richard Mansell and Harry Austin levelled with a superbly struck free kick past stopper John Bateman.

Redditch enjoyed their best passage of play in the second half and edged ahead when the Robins defence was caught square which allowed substitute Jermaine Hilton to skip through and plant the ball beyond the advancing Bateman.

The visitors, however, were pegged back with eight minutes to go. Dovey was caught in the box by Dan Pitt and Brown made it 2-2 from the penalty spot at the second attempt after having his initial shot pushed out by Hornby. The remainder of the game belonged to Evesham and Hornby prevented Shaun Cunnington`s side a late winner diving to his left to push Dovey`s drive onto a post and then in the last minute Dovey`s header was cleared off the line following Mitchell Botfield`s corner.
