A crowd of over 1,300 enjoyed the July sunshine to witness Liverpool Legends triumph 4-1 against their Manchester United counterparts in a game to mark Evesham United’s first anniversary at their Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.  A powerful Liverpool side packed with internationals were too strong for the former Red Devils, who themselves boasted an array of household names.

John Durnin fired the Merseysiders ahead on 11 minutes, before the lead was doubled five minutes into the second half, Durnin turning provider to set-up Don Hutchison who gave United keeper Fraser Digby no chance.

Auction winner James Jones, who was on the books of Evesham last season, got on the scoresheet twice on the 55th and 68th minutes to give Liverpool a commanding 4-0 lead.  Deniol Graham then got on the end of Clayton Blackmore’s throughball to pull a goal back for United late on, but Liverpool finished the game on top with Walsh and Jones both going close to adding to their final tally.
