Further updates from our Youth Coordinator who is in Gambia coaching youngsters.

Update from Yesterday

All another very hot day 37 degrees and a full one with 4 one hour sessions with 50 boys at each. Started with a warm up as if we needed it and then some keeping possession with finishing with shooting (photo attached) and a 10 minute game to finish. The lads are really responsive and are willing to learn but lack of balls, goals and playing on a dust bowl in bare feet don’t help. So off tomorrow to meet the HM High Commissioner at the Embassy for tea, I must be fair those of you who know me this could go down either way, But I’m looking forward to it.

Update from Today

Well what a day started at 10am coaching a children’s team in Bakau, Bakau Madrid back for a quick shower and change to make my way to the British Embassy to meet the High Commissioner of Gambia. Photo (attached). What a lovely lady I went to the Embassy where a car was waiting to take me to her home where we had tea and cakes. She was really interested in what I was doing in with the school and how they need football coaches in The Gambia. What a great experience and one which I will never forget. After my visit I rushed back to the hotel to get myself ready to meet a couple from Evesham who were on holidays in Gambia and had kindly brought out boots etc for the kids at the school. Mr & Mrs Green have been coming to Gambia for years and wanted to help the children so a huge thank you to them both.
