Evesham United have signed defender Andy Lewis from Cinderford Town.

The 26-year-old rejoined the Foresters from Shortwood United last summer. He moved to Gloucestershire to study for a teaching degree, joining Shortwood at Christmas in 2014 after starting that season with Yate Town. He had previously been on the books of Cinderford for five years and at Swansea City where he was released at 16. Lewis is now set to make his debut for Evesham in Saturday’s home match against Paulton Rovers.

“I was impressed with what Colly had to say,” Lewis said. “He’s put together a team who are pushing for promotion and desperate to get into the Premier Division. “Hopefully I can help them achieve that aim so I’m excited about getting going on Saturday.”

Defender Will Wellon has returned to Evesham United after a spell at North Leigh for a year. He left the Jubilee Stadium last January after three years with the club. Wellon, 29, also appeared for Tuffley Rovers in the Hellenic League Premier Division last season.
