Evesham United’s continued quest for a first victory of 2013 takes them to lowly Winchester City tomorrow (3pm) writes Steve Carley of the Worcester News.

The Robins have drawn three and lost one of their last four Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West matches.

A 1-0 win over Bishop’s Cleeve at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium on Boxing Day was the last time Paul West’s side enjoyed success.

Although marginally closer to the play-off zone on points than the solitary relegation place, Evesham are in desperate need of ending their winless streak.

They will also hope for better fortune on the road as their last two matches, which finished 1-1 against Abingdon United and 0-0 with Cirencester Town, were played on their home pitch which has a drainage problem.

Manager West has bolstered his side’s attacking options for the trip to the second-from-bottom Hampshire outfit by signing striker Brendon Hicks.

He has been playing for Fairfield Villa in Midland Combination Division One but was also registered with Redditch United.

Evesham are running a coach to Winchester, leaving the Jubilee Stadium at 11am. Supporters can reserve a seat by calling Mike Peplow on 07889-011539.
