Evesham United vs Bashley  – Report by Josh Rogers

Bashley FC are through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy after they beat Evesham United 7-8 on penalties.

A superb first half performance from The Robins saw them take control of the game from the off.

Chances upon chances fell Evesham’s way, the ball was even in the back of the net before it was deemed offside after a run made by Levi Steele was timed half a second too early.

However, that clearly didn’t seem to faze Steele as he opened the scoring on the 25th minute mark.

Felix Miles, who was signed on a month loan contract a day before, placed a lovely ball in the box which was met by Steele who calmly placed the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.

Amer Awadh had a great chance to make it two a few minutes later but his effort sailed over the bar.

The second half was a completely different game and was largely dominated by Bashley who created most of the chances.

It took them just over 15 minutes from time to find the back of the net with Kaya Tshaka meeting the ball at the back post with his placed shot deemed too much for Jack Copland.

The last ten minutes was all Evesham but they failed to find the back of the net as we then headed for penalties.

A very long penalty shootout which saw five misses and 15 goals from the spot with game ending 7-8 in favour of Bashley.
