Evesham lost their FA Trophy Second Qualifying match at a wet and windy Jubilee Stadium this afternoon against a determined Spennymoor Town side.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North side, who had lost just one league game this season, took a deserved lead in the 11th minute through Nathan Fisher, after the home side failed to clear the ball out of the area. The game ebbed and flowed with some robust challenges being made.  Evesham’s best chance came four minutes before half time when Adam Mann found space in the box, but he shot straight at the keeper.

In the 55th minute, Evesham equalised when from over 30 yards midfielder Carl Brown hit a powerful shot which flew into the top right hand corner of the goal.

With a quarter hour left the winner for Spennymoor came when a move down the visitors right saw a handball decision go against Evesham, the ball was crossed and at the far post substitute Danny Frost swept the ball home.

After numerous yellow cards, it was no surprise that one turned to red when Shane Henry got his marching orders for the County Durham side.  Although Evesham put pressure on the Spennymoor goal late on, the visitors held out to progress to the next round.
