After last weeks 5-1 victory over Droitwich Belles, Evesham took on Cookley Ladies FC yesterday with only 11 players.

Evesham from the start were on the front foot with Rosie Johns and the returning Hannah Lowerson shooting wide. Seven minutes in and with Cookley’s first attack, Lisa Cropper off her line, blocked a shot but the ball fell to a Cookley player who shot into an empty net. Evesham eventually equalised through Hannah Campbell..

Further chances fell to Evesham, but the Cookley goal keeper was in fine form. Evesham were further reduced to ten players during the rest of the first half due to injury. On the stroke of half time Cookley went 2-1 up on the back of a well placed shot.

At the start of second half, a far from fit Holly Ree rejoined Evesham Ladies and within 10 minutes a cool finish from Sam Scully brought the score to 2-2 and the goals kept coming. Grace Harker with a great lob brought the score to 3-2. With a mistake by the injured Evesham goal keeper from a corner, Cookley were back in the game at 3-3.  However, Evesham were not to be denied and a brace by new girl Diane Niheir and two more for Campbell, including a header made it 7-3.

Summary – A great game with plenty of chances from both sides but Evesham Ladies upped their game for a great result.
