Evesham travelled to Somerset today to take on Taunton Town who were in the play-off positions and had not lost since October, a run of 15 games without defeat.

The visitors started well with Matt Sysum and Adam Mann both going close to scoring in the first twenty minutes.  The game changed on 38 minutes when Evesham midfielder Sean Wood was sent off after his second bookable offence.  Minutes later Taunton missed their best opportunity of the first half when a header from close range went over the bar.

The decisive moment of the match came on 72 minutes when Lance Smith ran on to a ball over the top of the defence, shrugged off two Taunton defenders and rounded the keeper to score from ten yards.  Adam Mann went close soon after, but Evesham managed to hold out with ten men to secure an outstanding victory.

The result leaves Evesham in eighth place and still with faint hopes of a play-off position.  We have lost just two league matches in the last seventeen.
