Midland Floodlit League

In a very competitive game of limited chances, the visitors scrapped a revenge victory after Evesham’s 2-0 win earlier in the season, with a late brave effort which was one of a small number of chances on target.

The first half saw a number of free kick opportunities wasted, and lots of play in the centre of the pitch. Both teams had a couple of corners which came to nothing. Nathan Taylor in goal had slightly more to do than the Gloucester keeper but he was not really tested.

The second half continued in exactly the same manner with both teams wasting possession on a number of occasions. Evesham picked up a couple of yellow cards, one which saw Harry Jacob have to leave the pitch due to a stray boot catching him in the mouth. This caused a reshuffle of the defence. The game continued in the same vain, until the 80th minute when a long ball through the centre of the pitch saw a Gloucester player just beat Taylor to ball, and headed it past him in to the back of the net.

As time ran down, the Evesham players tried to push forward, but the Gloucester defence were able to snuff out any dangerous looking through balls.

Evesham will be looking to bounce back next week when they are away at Pegasus Juniors before a fixture in the 4th round of the league cup at home to either Tipton or Bedworth in the last week of November.
