EVESHAM UNITED FC SQUAD 2019-20

Carl Abbott – Manager

Carl quit Midland Football League (MFL) Premier Division outfit Quorn, the club he led to a sixth-place finish at the level below ’The Robins’,  Quorn had announced that Carl and his backroom staff would be staying on for the 2019/20 season, but in a u turn the new gaffer said that the chance to manage Evesham was an “exciting opportunity that was one he could not pass up .

Prior to Quorn, Carl has been at the helm of Market Drayton Town a lengthy spell at Wolverhampton Casuals and Hinckley AFC. 

Paul Tomlinson– Assistant Manager

Tommo was Assistant Manager to Carl at Hinckley AFC, Market Drayton Town and Quorn, the duo has worked together for some 6 years now and formed a strong partnership.

A former professional player with Sheffield United before dropping into non-league football with Stafford Rangers. Experienced in non-league management having managed in his own right, before becoming Assistant to Shaun Cunnington at Alvechurch, Willenhall Town, Halesowen Town and Evesham United.

A brilliant coach and trusted right-hand man to the gaffer.

Simon Johnson – Coach

A former premier league player, Johnno played for Leeds United under David O’Leary, Terry       Venables and Eddie Gray, and featured in a champions league squad in the clubs run to the semi-final. Spells at Sunderland, Hull City, Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers, Darlington and Hereford followed in a good career, before playing in non-league with Solihull Moors and Guiseley.

Johnno is an F.A. accredited coach and runs his own Midlands based educational football academy – Simon Johnson Universal Academy.

A brilliant acquisition for the football club.

Richard Gamble – Head of Performance

Critical member of the team having fulfilled this role at Hinckley AFC, Market Drayton Town and Quorn AFC. Richard is the glue that holds the team together, his background is in business, and sports psychology.

A former Director at Hinckley AFC, where Richard became more involved in front of house affairs and developed an incredibly strong working relationship with Carl.

Will control the workings of the managerial team, sports psychology and performance analysis.

Ollie Price – Physio & Sports Therapist

Ollie’s background is in women’s football, with previous spells as sports therapist at Cardiff City Women and Cheltenham Town Ladies. He currently runs his own business whilst also being involved with Oxford United Girls RTC and Women’s senior squad.

Leigh Woodall – The Kit Man(ager)

You could say that Lee has both international and domestic experience as a Kit Man, having carried out his many duties for both the English & Welsh Football Associations.

His domestic clubs include Kidderminster Harriers & Worcester City.

As with all great Kit Manager, in Leigh we have someone who is meticulous, committed, flexible, prepared, ready and always first in on a Saturday.

Reece Francis – Goalkeeper – 19/09/1992
Reece’s goalkeeping exploits have seen him spend a lengthy spell with Bromsgrove Sporting during the most successful period in their history. Most recently with Redditch United.

Brad Maslen-Jones – Defender – 12/01/1998
Hull City, Cambridge City & Peterborough United can be named as Brad’s previous clubs, a young defender with a bright future in the game, his pre-season 80-yard strike against Stratford Town may suggest he has an eye for goal.

Ryan Paddock – Defender – 08/10/1998
This is Ryan’s second spell at ‘The Jubilee’, he has recently been selected for the British Army Football Squad. Former clubs include Bristol Rovers, Cinderford Town and North Leigh.

Aaron Roberts – Defender – 19/06/1992
Aaron was another part of Bromsgrove’s successful period. Involved in two league championship wins, two further promotions, three cup triumphs and a run to the semi-final of the FA Vase. Previous clubs include Alvechurch and Hednesford Town.

Brian ‘Junior’ Smikle – Defender/Midfielder/Forward – 03/11/1985
Junior is one of those players who can play all over the park. Amongst his previous clubs Junior can name West Bromwich Albion, Hereford United, Kidderminster Harriers, Altringcham & Cheltenham Town. A true inspiration to any young footballer.

Jack Till – Defender – 20/07/1997
Another bright young prospect, Jack has already had experience at the level above with Halesowen Town in the Evo-Stik Premier Division Central. Jack scored scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup when making his debut for Lye Town at 16, following time well spent at Kidderminster Harriers Academy.

Danny Bragoli© – Midfielder – 09/09/1985
Described as a soldier on the pitch, an absolute warrior & a born leader of men. Danny signed for Evesham during closed season following a 5-year spell at Halesowen Town where he proudly wore the captain’s armband. Previous clubs also include Rushall Olympic & Chasetown.

Jack Cresswell – Midfielder – 18/11/1992
Another player who joined us this summer, Jack is an exciting player to watch and has very quickly become popular with the fans. Prior to a long stint at Alvechurch can also name Walsall, Kidderminster Harriers, Redditch United & Racing Club Warwick as former clubs.

Mike McGrath – Midfielder – 04/09/1985
Macca is a player who has been on the gaffer’s radar for a long time, comfortable on the ball, great pace and an excellent eye for a pass. Mike had a spell playing football in Ireland for Galway United & Sligo Rovers in the League of Ireland, other previous clubs include Kidderminster Harriers, Hereford & Redditch United.

Joe O’Neil – Midfielder – 06/09/2000
Joe’s previous clubs include Mansfield Town & Cheltenham Town, he has the unenvious task of trying to live up to the levels that his dad was able to achieve. Joe looks to have all the qualities of an excellent midfielder and has a great future in the game.

Adam Page – Midfielder – 30/05/1997
A product of Cheltenham Town Academy on a scholarship, before making his first team debut in August 2017. Adam spent last season Gloucester City & has also played for Hereford & Redditch United.

Jordan Sangha – Midfielder – 04/01/1998
Jordan joined the Walsall youth-team at the age of eight, where in 2015–16 he was named as Apprentice of the Season. He remained at Walsall until last season, with loan spells at A.F.C. Telford United, Ashton United, Rushall Olympic & Leamington.

Lee Chilton – Forward – 02/01/1985
It has been said that ‘Chilly’ is a well-travelled pacey wide man and attacking midfielder, whatever or wherever you call him you are guaranteed he will give you his all. He has turned out for Alvechurch, Leamington, Halesowen Town, Stourbridge, Hinckley United & AFC Telford United amongst others.

Matt Dodd – Forward – 16/01/1987
Another summer signing for ‘The Robins’, a player that the gaffer has had on his wish list for a long time and, finally got his man. Matt has plied his trade at Sutton Coldfield Town, Worcester City, Leamington, Hednesford Town & Stourbridge.

Mark Magee – Forward – 03/10/1989
Mark has returned to Evesham United for his second spell, having played for ‘The Robins’ in the 16/17 & 17/18 seasons before joining North Leigh & Westfields.

David Reynolds – Forward – 29/09/1998
Achieved legendary status at Malvern Town in 2016/17 when he scored 53 goals in 46 games. Having spent 5 years in the claret & blue of ‘The Hillsiders’ Reyno moved to Worcester City in the summer of 2017.

Kai Tonge – Forward – 21/05/1997
Young, Tall and A Winger, hopefully Kai has the world of football in front of him, having only taken up the beautiful game in 2016. Former clubs include Tranmere Rovers, Hinckley AFC & Quorn.
