Match Report by Bromsgrove Sporting

Bromsgrove Sporting exited the Worcestershire Senior Cup at the quarter final stage after losing to Evesham United.

An Ethan Moran goal 40 minutes in on a freezing cold evening saw the Rouslers crash out of the tournament after playing just one game.

The Robins had plenty of early pressure, with a goalmouth scramble just three minutes in seeing Evesham have approximately six shots, all of which the Sporting defence somehow kept out.

10 minutes on, William Owens had shot from distance for the home side that took a deflection before being tipped with by Sporting stopper Ollie Taylor.

Bromsgrove’s Billy Shaw struck an effort straight at keeper Dominic Hill in the 26th minute and, with five minutes of the first half remaining, the deadlock was broken, as Moran drilled a well struck drive into Taylor’s bottom corner.

Elliott Ball and Shaw had half chances early in the second half to level proceedings but neither were able to capitalise on them.

Sporting had a couple of opportunities just shy of the 80th minute mark, as Conor Tee struck an effort wide from range before player-manager Mike McGrath headed the ball in the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Owens had a chance to double Evesham’s tally in the final moments, but his free kick flew over the bar.
