Evesham United 2-0 Larkhall Athletic

EUFC MoM: Joseph Hunt

Attendance: 238

Having secured Step 4 status for next season at Cinderford Town on Bank Holiday Monday the pressure was off The Robins.

The first half looked like a typical end of term affair, both sides were safe from relegation and not challenging for anything other than pride. With both sides limited to half chances, coming in the form of long-range shots or crosses not met.

In the 4th minute an Adam Mace free kick went close, possibly a sign of what was to come. Kyle Belmonte then saw his shot from the edge of the box go over the bar. Larkhall’s Harry Simons shot from distance on 18 minutes was easily saved by Evesham keeper Lewis Clayton. The home side’s best chance of the first half came when a Joseph Hunt cross found Callum Clayton, his header went just over the bar.

It took 70 minutes before the game came to life when Adam Pepera’s header found the back of the net, only to be ruled out for offside. Then came the first goals of the season for a couple of Evesham’s players. In the 77th minute Sam Judge scored his first goal in his first start in The Pitching In Southern League. Following an excellent build up involving Toumani Sidibe and Jordan Lymn, Judge turned in the box before tucking his shot just inside the visitor’s post.

Evesham’s captain Adam Mace then scored his first goal of the season, a 30 yard free kick hit with pinpoint accuracy gave Larkhall’s keeper no chance, much to the joy of the ‘Evesham Faithful’.
