Evesham United hope to keep their noses in front of Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West rivals Abingdon United when they meet at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm). The two teams are separated by three points in the table with 13th-placed Evesham enjoying the upper hand although Abingdon have three games in hand. The Oxfordshire visitors have slipped to four defeats in a row, with their last league victory being a 3-1 home win over Clevedon Town on December 1 while they also lost three games to the weather.

The Robins, denied a draw by Aaron Cornwall’s stoppage-time winner for Merthyr Town on New Year’s Day, could leap all the way up to sixth in the table with a victory tomorrow as there is a clutch of eight teams separated by three points. Midfielder Simon Fitter completes his three-match ban for a red card, while forward Roland Agbor is pushing for a return following a broken wrist.
