The Robins run of good form continued in front of a crowd of 237 on Saturday. This time the opponents were in form AFC Totton who sat second in the league table.

Evesham made their customary pacey start to the game, their reward was a third minute goal when Brandon Smalley received the ball on the edge, took one touch and slotted it past Skrzyniarz in the visitor’s goal.

The home side had a couple of good chances to move further ahead, Mike Symons seemed to slip as he took his shot on 8 minutes. Then a Calvin Dinsley corner almost find Ryan Paddock at the far post. A Charlie Johnson free kick went just past the top corner in the 32nd minute.

Despite the Robins creating the chances it was Totton who got their equaliser, Ben Jefford’s well placed shot from the edge of the box went wide of Lewis Clayton and found it’s way into the net.

Totton took the lead when Ethan Taylor’s shot from a very wide angle beat Clayton. Evesham were in no mood to accept being behind and punished Totton’s inability to clear the ball from their box. Jordan Staten’s header in a busy box levelled the scores just before the hour.

An excellent cross from Jack Hoey was headed home by Taylor giving him his second goal and Totton their 3-2 lead.

Several chances came the way of Evesham United, Callum Ebanks saw his shot tipped over the bar, Symons shot brushed the post.

In the last minute of normal time Symons received the ball to the right of The Stags box before striking a well-placed shot past the advancing keeper. Honours even in what many would have felt was an excellent game to watch.

The game was played under the beady eye of new manager Lee Driver-Dickerson with Neil Hunt taking his place in the dugout for his last match in charge, not a bad way to sign off.

Evesham United: Clayton, Hunt (Hayes 79), Johnson, Staten, Paddock, Sheehan (Horrell 79), Lymn, Dinsley©, Symons, Ebanks, Smalley (Smith 79). Sub Not Used: Parry.
