17-year-old midfielder Connor Jakeways has joined the Robins on `work experience` from League One neighbours Cheltenham Town.

Jakeways was named in a first-team matchday squad for an EFL Trophy win over Plymouth Argyle in October 2020 at the age of 16.

He has progressed through the youth system at Whaddon Road and during 2019/20 as an under-16s player stepped up to be a part of the under-18s team that took Arsenal all the way to penalties in the FA Youth Cup third round.

He’s capable of playing in midfield but if required can also be deployed as a defender.

During the 2021/22 season, he spent time on loan at Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Fairford Town.

He came on as a half time substitute against Cirencester Town on Monday.
