Southern League Division One South

Evesham United 03 Cirencester Town

The game started at a high tempo with both teams moving the ball around well, in the early exchanges it was the home side that were looking the sharper. A sign of what was to come came with 11 minutes on the clock. A Cirencester corner taken by Michael Pook found the head of Joseph Shepherd but, Lewis Clayton was on hand to block the point-blank header which was the cleared by a defensive block.

Clayton in the Robins goal was called into action again just 5 minutes later, this time denying the Centurions Thomas Anderson. The same player made an excellent solo run into the Evesham box in the 24th minute, twisting and turning before firing a powerful shot that found the back of the net.

The visitors were now playing the better football and Anderson linked up with Josh Parsons on 41 minutes but, yet again were denied by Clayton in the host’s goal. Just a minute later former Robin Shayne Anson volleyed the ball home from a Cirencester corner, giving the visitors a 2-goal lead at half time.

The second half saw both teams playing some good passing football, with Cirencester looking the most threatening. Just before the hour mark the visitors scored their third goal, Parsons found the net following a move of many passes.

A well-deserved 3 points for a dominant Cirencester Town performance.
