In the early exchanges of the match both sides were struggling to find any rhythm, with many of their passes going astray and uncompleted.

A clever passing move gave Bideford a seventh minute chance that fell to Sean Downing but his shot was straight at the Evesham keeper, just three minutes later the visitors had a long-range shot which was deflected by Shayne Anson for a corner.

Evesham’s first opportunity of the game came in the 15th minute when Kane Simpson entered the visitor’s box with a series of tight twists and turns but, was unable to get away a clean shot and ended up eventually winning a corner, which came to nothing.

At this point in the game Bideford were definitely looking the stronger and also the sharper of the two sides, they created several goal scoring opportunities but failed to convert any of them.

In the 42nd minute the visitors were made to pay for their missed chances, a Nick Hancock searching pass found Kye Simpson whose shot found the back of the net from a very tight angle.

As the first half came to a close it was the home side taking the advantage despite their opponents being the better side, and goalkeeper Andy Hannah being the busier of the two keepers.

The visitors from North Devon did not have long to wait before being able to celebrate their equaliser, a shot come cross eluded the home keeper and found the back of the Evesham net.

The visitors we’re showing their intent when Ben Carter’s Strike went just over the bar following some poor defending. Then, just before the hour mark Bideford Number 10 Billy Tucker found himself unmarked in the box and placed the ball past the keeper and into an empty net.

For long periods of the game it now looked as if Evesham were hanging on with Bideford happy to capitalise on any mistakes the hosts made, Evesham did manage to create several half chances the best of which came on 72 minutes, Ashley Williams played an excellent ball to Cory Simpson but sadly his brother Kane could not convert his cross from 4 yards out.

The visitors compounded ‘The Robins’ agony on 74 minutes when Joel Randall got on the end of a Sean downing pass to score AFC’s third.
