An Evesham side containing trialists and players from the club`s thriving Junior Section came away from the King George Playing Fields with a 1-0 win over Midland League Division One neighbours Pershore Town in United`s latest pre-season friendly. Elliot Kennedy`s goal was enough to make it two wins in two
days for Paul Collicutt`s side following an emphatic 4-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers the previous evening. The game was an ideal opportunity for Collicutt to cast an eye over possible new signings to add to the majority of last seasons squad who have already put pen to paper for the 2016/2017 campaign.

The hardworking Kennedy got the game`s only goal after 22 minutes, latching onto a deflected through ball and clinically finding the net beyond Town keeper Shaun Edwards. Before Kennedy struck, United had already crashed a couple of efforts against the Pershore woodwork. Lorcan Sheehan headed Ben Prictor`s corner against the crossbar and shortly afterwards, new signing Paul Fahy was unlucky when he planted another header onto a post after good work by youngster Sam Lucas. The remainder of the first half was bossed by United with Edwards going on to made important saves to prevent Fahy and Kennedy from extending the one-goal lead.

The second half was littered with a host of substitutions by both sides which made for a scrappy 45 minutes. The better chances continued to fall United`s way, however, Sam Gilder in the Red and Whites goal did make an impressive save from Chris Mallinson to prevent the home side from snatching an unexpected equaliser late on.
