Match Report by Josh Rogers

Evesham United win their third game in a row after they controlled the game to beat Westbury United 1-0.

The game as a whole was very dictated by The Robins despite scoring just the one goal, but the first half was very dull and flat with little to no chances being created.

It took as long as 41 minutes for the first decent chance to be created which went the way of Evesham.

Aidan Clarke squeezed his way through four or five players with some excellent footwork and his curling effort was saved in the bottom corner by Jonathon Hill.

Into the second half, it took ten minutes for the deadlock to be broken which was scored by Levi Steele who has been amongst a lot of the goals this season.

Aaron Heap who was the main man in midfield slotted a through ball into the path of Steele who made no mistake and slotted it past the Westbury keeper.

A few minutes later there were shouts of a penalty that were waved away by the referee after Freddie Willcox went down with what seemed to be a tangle in legs.

20 minutes from time Westbury had their first and really only half chance of the game after a cross was whipped in close to the keeper and was brilliantly tipped over by Ben Taylor.

The fans came in big numbers like always and were even chanting ‘There’s only one Michael Ford’.

Evesham are heading closer to the playoffs and will hope to go more than one better last year after getting knocked out in the Playoff Semi-Final.
