Report by Adam Barker, Bideford FC

Bideford’s slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday as Evesham United left the Sports Ground with all three points.

The visitors, backed by a good number of travelling supporters, took the lead in the eighth minute as Fred Willcox found Ethan Moran to squeeze a shot past Adam Seedhouse Evans at the near post.

Bideford tried to shake off the early set back with Alex Byrne and Finn Roberts both seeing attempts fly off target. Evesham meanwhile looked a constant threat with their pacy counter attacks.

A second goal right on half time was a killer blow for The Robins as Daniel Djurovic headed in all too easily from a Will Owens free kick to give Evesham a commanding lead.

Bideford were much improved in the second half but despite having most of the ball, were unable to seriously trouble Ben Taylor in the Evesham goal.

Substitute Lewis Hill looked to liven things up for the hosts as he shot just off target just before the hour mark. Taylor then forced his way through a number of blue shirts to find Josh Webber but there were no takers for his ball into the box.

Seedhouse Evans had to be alert to tip over a header and there was a brilliant challenge from Rob Farkins which denied the away side a certain third goal.

Bideford’s frustration was summed up in injury time as James Mayne struck a shot from distance which flew safely wide of Taylor’s goal.

Evesham maintained their impressive away form with their tenth game without losing. The victory put them in fourth and back in the play-off places.
