Adam Mann scored twice as Evesham United moved up to fourth in Evo-Stik League South, West with a 3-0 win over Bideford today.

The Jubilee Stadium victory boosted the Robins’ play-off hopes but will not help Bideford’s own bid seven points away in ninth position.

A slack start at the back from Evesham saw keeper Kevin Sawyer have to save from Ben Seymour.

Andy Lewis broke the visitors’ early dominance by firing over for the Robins from six yards.

And Evesham went ahead on 28 minutes when forward Mann nipped in and nudged a trickling shot low into the bottom far corner.

The first goal took the sting out of the purposeful visitors with sporadic rain making the pitch heavy but United exerted a good level of control after a rocky start.

They then extended the lead on 54 minutes when Carl Brown’s persistence paid off as he guided the ball back for Mann to prod home.

Bideford had an effort disallowed as Sean Downing was ruled to be offside after Sawyer parried Dan Western’s 30-yard free-kick.

Evesham’s win was fully deserved in front of 245 fans.

Centre-half duo Mat Liddiard and Lewis impressed while the lively Mann took his goals well and Preen caused problems along with the tireless Brown.
