Evesham United sit handily in fourth place after a thrilling 3-3 draw against fellow Southern League West play-off hopefuls Swindon Supermarine on Wednesday.

Fresh from Saturday’s hard fought 1-0 home win over Paulton Rovers, the Robins shared the spoils against a Swindon side who sit four places and two points below United with a game in hand after an entertaining affair in appalling conditions at the Jubilee Stadium.

Evesham, who have taken 14 points from their past six matches, will aim to continue their momentum at home to Slimbridge on Saturday before visiting Cinderford Town on Tuesday.

Swindon took a 17th-minute lead when Josh Parsons completed a flowing move but Adam Mann toe-poked home from an acute angle to level on the half hour mark following Mark Francis’ neat through ball.

The hosts took a 2-1 lead shortly before the break and Francis was again influential as his cross was headed towards goal by Lewis Binns before being deflected into the net by Marine’s Kieran Diaz-Benitez.

It was 2-2 moments later though when former United man Bradley Gray arrowed a strike into the bottom corner.

Evesham made a bright start to the second half and Matt Liddiard headed wide from Mann’s superb cross before Mann made it 3-2 on 55 minutes as he capitalised on defensive uncertainty.

However, the visitors were not done and Parsons’ 20-yard free kick restored parity midway through the second period and, despite now playing with the advantage of the strong wind at their backs, the hosts could not score again and saw Will Wellon dismissed after picking up a second yellow card close to full time.
