Evesham Hit Four in Derby to Make it Eight Wins in a Row

Evesham moved up to third in the Southern League South & West tonight with a 4-2 victory in the A46/A435 derby with Bishops Cleeve, also making it eight wins in a row and nine unbeaten.

In front of the biggest crowd of the season, 335, it was the visitors who started the better and were to rue their missed opportunities.

Evesham took the lead in the 33rd minute when Lewis Binns cut inside on left and curled one round the keeper.

It was 2-0 four minutes into the second half when a Nick Stanley free kick was parried out by the keeper to Lance Smith who scored a poachers goal.

On the hour it was 3-0 when a super through ball from loanee Louis McGrory to Lance Smith who showed quick movement to score easily.

Harlie Price pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute, but two minutes later it was 4-1 when Jacob Sloggett scored from just inside the box.

In injury time Cleeve scored again through Price’s second.

An entertaining game with both teams playing positive football.
