We look forward to welcoming Chris, Dave and Tom to the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium on Saturday for our FA Trophy fixture with Lymington Town.

Three Men and a… Football Challenge
We are three friends, who are avid football fans, who have teamed up to create “Three Men and a… Football Challenge”. To try and help raise money and awareness for MNDA (Motor neurone disease).

Last season we successfully completed the FA Cup “Road to Wembley” challenge. Where we attended watch every round of the FA Cup, from Extra preliminary round right through to the final, watching the winner of each match in their next round game. We started with Balham FC vs Canterbury City in the extra preliminary and with our journey taking us to Merstham Town, Hereford FC, Wigan, Colchester, Stoke City and Crystal Palace, we finally finished with Liverpool vs Chelsea at Wembley stadium.

As well as the football challenge, one of the guys cycled the distance between the two clubs playing each round, during the week before that game and another one ran the Manchester marathon last April. The third one brought a house and got married. So he could only commit himself to the football last season.

As a result, and with a lot of help from the football clubs and their supporters, we managed to raise £1,800 for MNDA (Motor neurone disease association).

This season we are attempting to another “Road to Wembley” challenge, but this time we are following the FA Trophy and again plan to watch every round, from the first round qualifying right through to the final. We started this season run at The Meadow, where we saw Evesham United over come Aylesbury United 3-0, leading us to The Spiers & Hartwell Stadium and the second round qualifying match against Lymington Town.

As well as the football, this time we have commit to run 3 marathons, New York, London and Leeds, between November and May.

We’ve chosen the FA Trophy this time because; we really enjoyed attending games at the qualifying stages of the FA Cup and visiting teams and grounds we’ve never been or heard of before, plus we had such a great response and help from those teams on the charity and fundraising part of our challenge.

Why are we doing this?

Two of us have lost close family members to this cruel disease, so we want to do something in their honour, whilst trying to raise awareness and hopefully as much money as we can for the MNDA. Our aim this season is to raise £3000 and any donations are very much appreciated.
