Ben Whitehead

Prolific striker Ben Whitehead has committed to playing for the Robins next term. The 28-year old is a much sought-after striker with electric pace and an eye for goal.

Ben signed for Cirencester Town in the Summer of 2017 from Didcot Town. His previous clubs included Swindon Supermarine, Didcot Town, Wantage Town and Chippenham Town. Ben netted an incredible 86 goals in 87 games in two seasons at Cirencester Town.

After being sought by many clubs, Ben moved to Weston-Super-Mare in June 2019. However, after a series of injuries and the pandemic, Ben re-joined Cirencester Town initially on-loan and then permanently last season scoring 14 goals from 21 starts and 10 sub appearances.

Ben on committing to the Robins said he had played at Evesham many times before and was impressed with the 3G and felt it was a decent pitch.

“I have not worked before with Mike but have known him for years since childhood. I have not played for one of his teams but played against many of his sides. I appreciate that the manager has always been successful wherever he has been. It is good to sign for him.

I am looking forward to pre-season in a couple of weeks. It is good to get back to it with a good pre-season under our belts and I look forward to the campaign ahead.”

On Ben Whitehead, manager Mike Ford said,

“I know him very well locally and guaranteed goals. He is a good lad and honest, a good signing to get across the line. It is great to have him at Evesham.”

A defender, who made 8 appearances for Stratford Town last season, has committed to playing for Evesham in 2022/23. Michael who is a product of their Academy, has also appeared for FC Stratford and Bishops Cleeve.

On moving to Evesham,

“I am buzzing to be here, and I am looking forward to pre-season. I have worked with Mike before briefly for six weeks at Stratford Town last season. I like the way he works and being a centre-half like the manager I hope to learn off him, so good to work with him again.

It will be a tough first preseason game against Cheltenham Town, that will be a fun one! I am really looking forward to getting started.”

On Michael, Mike Ford said,

“We need hungry footballers at the club, and he has not played enough senior football. We are going to give him the opportunity. I like him as an adult and as a football player.”
