Midland Floodlit Youth League

12th September 2016

Evesham United 1

Pegasus Juniors 0

Evesham United’s youth team continued their winning start to the season with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Pegasus Juniors on Monday evening at the Jubilee Stadium. to make it four wins out of four, to move top of the Midland Floodlit Youth League.

A quick start to the game saw chances being created by Evesham at regular intervals, and it took 9 minutes before the breakthrough, when a quick throw in, caught out the Pegasus defence, allowing a low cross to reach Tom Ravenhall who was able to pass the ball into the net. The pattern for the remainder of the game was set as Evesham went in search of the second goal, but chances from Dan Tustin, Charlie Smith, Brad Stalley, Ravenhall, Tom Leonard and Sam Lucas were blocked, saved or put wide. The second half saw exactly the same with the majority of the chances being squandered by the home side. Good opportunities were created for Ed Petts, Declan Juliff and Ben Hunt. Pegasus crept back into the match in the final 15 minutes, but resolute defending by Reece Warmsley and Harry Jacob meant that Nathan Taylor in goal was only called on to make one good save, as he tipped the ball over from a direct free kick.

Next Monday sees Evesham United Youth facing unbeaten Hereford United Youth in the FA Youth Cup 1st qualifying round at the Jubilee Stadium with a 7.45pm kick off, in what promises to be a  real challenge for the team. Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
