Evesham United will make their second trip of the season to Chasetown with the pressure well and truly off, according to manager Paul Collicutt in the Gloucestershire Echo.

They were knocked out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage at the end of August and tomorrow they face the same opponents, at the same ground, in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Chasetown, who compete in Division One South of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, are still in the Cup and Collicutt knows they are in for another stern examination at the Scholars Ground.

“What are the chances of drawing the same team away in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy?” Collicutt said.

“It’s a very difficult game for us having lost their 2-0 in the Cup and good luck to them because they are in the third qualifying round now so they’ll be on a high.

“It takes the pressure of us and we will just go there and give it our best shot.”

Collicutt watched his team go down 3-2 at Shortwood United on Tuesday night, suffering their first defeat in eight games.

They led 1-0 through Sean Wood but Shortwood opened up a 3-1 lead, before substitute Lance Smith’s late strike.

“It was the poorest we’ve been defensively this season,” Collicutt said.

“We take pride in keeping things tight, but we conceded soft goal and we have to dust ourselves down quickly.

“It was an eventful game and I didn’t think the refereeing was great, but Shortwood are going well and we will just try and start another run now.”

Collicutt has no new injury worries for the trip to Staffordshire, but Kevin Slack will have another game for Northern Senior League side FC Barometrics to build his match fitness.

He has been pleased with the start former Monmouth striker Dan Macdonald has made at Evesham.

“Dan needs to get fitter, but he sees things differently with his passing and vision and since he’s been in the side we’ve started scoring more goals,” Collicutt said.
