Evesham United were full value for their goalless draw at higher graded Histon to earn a replay in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. The Robins produced a well organised display which frustrated the hosts at the Glass World Stadium and now try again on Wednesday evening (7-45pm).

United manager Paul Collicutt received a boost before kick-off, when key players Linden Dovey, Marcus Jackson, Elliot Kennedy and Ashley Edenborough were all declared fit after recovering from
injury. A young Histon side made the early running resulting in Nick Freeman and Matt Lowe having long-range efforts comfortably taken by Robin`s keeper Kevin Sawyer. United grew in confidence as the half progressed and had penalty appeals turned down when Kennedy appeared to be fouled in the box by Ashley White but referee Mr Taylor waved play on. Last season`s leading scorer Lance Smith then had a couple of headers saved as the Red and Whites finished the half on the front foot.

HALF TIME – Histon (0) Evesham United (0)

The pace of George Washbourne down the left was a constant threat to the Histon defence in the second-half, first shooting across the face of an unguarded goal and then setting-up substitute Edenborough who forced an excellent save out of Histon stopper Enol Ordonez to keep the scores blank. The reliable Sawyer was then called into action making a smart stop from Mateusz Kuzimski, but it was United who pushed for the winner in the closing stages. Duran Reynolds made brave blocks in and around the box to keep out Smith and the hardworking Carl Brown, and then in stoppage-time
Edenborough escaped his marker only to fire over Ordonez`s crossbar with the keeper beaten leaving both sides having to do it all again on Wednesday evening.
