It is the eve of the biggest game for the club since our First Round game at Torquay United in 2008.  Tomorrow we host Conference South outfit Bromley (3pm) in the fourth and final qualifying round hoping to go one step further for only the second time in our history.

According to the Worcester News manager Paul Collicutt wants Evesham United to use the FA Cup to demonstrate the potential he believes the club has.

A crowd just shy of 450 watched their 4-1 victory over Chalfont St Peter in the previous round at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium – a significant increase on their gates in Southern League Division One South and West – and Collicutt is hoping for a similar number.

He said: “This game is for the supporters. They’ve have had to put up with quite a lot in recent seasons and the time spent playing at Worcester. Now we have got something to be proud of and this is the biggest game that has been played at the Jubilee Stadium since it opened. It’s an opportunity for the people of Evesham to come out and support the club. It’s what we need as a team and to show the potential we have here. That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to come to the club because I could see that Evesham are a sleeping giant.”

United have played six matches to reach this stage, banking nearly £17,000 in the process and with another £12,500 on the line against Bromley, who are fifth in their division.

Collicutt said: “We are the underdogs. Bromley are a very good team and have got one of the biggest budgets in their league. I just want to make the most of it win, lose or draw and, as long as I can get the players to give 100 per cent, I think we will cause Bromley problems.”

Evesham have Lance Smith available after the striker served a one-match ban, the 2-0 Red Insure Cup defeat at Stratford Town, for five bookings.

For those unable to make the game, the match will be broadcast live on BBC Hereford & Worcester on 738MW.

If the game ends in a draw, the replay will be at Bromley on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
