Former Cheltenham Town striker Mark Boyland has decided to leave Evesham United due to work and family commitments.

Banbury-based Boyland has been number two to boss Paul Collicutt at the Jubilee Stadium for just over two years.

Mark BoylandBoyland is about to become and grandfather for the first time and his job has caused him to miss a handful of games this season.

Collicutt said: “Boylo and I go back a long way and he’s been great for me over the past two seasons.

“He’s the calm one and he looks at things differently. Everyone at Evesham United is appreciative of what he has done and understands his reasons for leaving so he will certainly always be welcome back any time.”

Collicutt says he is open minded about who will replace Boyland, but he has spoken to one or two potential candidates.

The other members of his backroom staff are Richard Smith and goalkeeping coach Stuart Martyn.

Boyland was manager of Hellenic League side Hook Norton for over three seasons before joining Evesham.

During his playing days, he helped Cheltenham win promotion to the National League in 1984/85, enjoying three spells at Whaddon Road, which saw him net more than 100 goals.

Among his other clubs included Oxford City, Banbury United, Witney Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Aylesbury United, VS Rugby, Tamworth, Worcester City, Gloucester City and Cirencester Town.
