For the second game running and third time this season, Evesham scored five goals without reply to extend their unbeaten League and Cup run to seven games against Clevedon Town in the Southern League Division One South & West on Tuesday night. Lance Smith opened his account with a well taken hat-trick, while strike partner Ashley Edenborough netted twice to go to six goals for the campaign.

Edenborough continued his rich vein of form by firing the Robins ahead on 11 minutes with a glorious strike from just outside the box. The lead was doubled five minutes later when a good run by Elliot Kennedy ended with Smith stroking in via an upright past seasiders keeper Kane Mannings. It became 3-0 just past the half-hour mark, when Edenborough latched onto Smith`s flick-on and beat Mannings with another excellent finish into the top corner.

HALF-TIME: Evesham United (3) Clevedon Town (0)

With the three points already in the bag, United took their foot off the gas in the second-half but still went onto create a hatful of chances. Smith glanced a couple of headers wide and then Mannings had to be alert to keep out goalbound efforts from Smith, Edenborough and the stylish Kennedy. At the other end, Kevin Sawyer was called into action with decent stops to deny Aaron Robbins and Kye Thomas but two goals in the
final stages made it another convincing scoreline for Paul Collicutt`s side. Smith bagged his second goal and United`s fourth two minutes from time with a splended shot past the diving Mannings and then completed an impressive evening`s work by shooting home on-the-turn for 5-0 after substitute Kevin Slack had created the opportunity sixty-seconds into stoppage-time.
