Evesham United Youth teams’ unbeaten start to the season came to an end at the hands of a very well drilled Hereford United Youth team in the FA Youth Cup on Monday evening at the Jubilee Stadium. The first half was a very cagey affair with Hereford having the majority of the possession, but very few chances were created by either team. Reece Walmsley had an opportunity from a set piece following a flick on by Harry Jacob, while at the other end Callum Marshall was called on to make a smart save to keep the game goalless at half time.

The second half continued with the away team pressing, but the Evesham defence stood up to everything, this included goal saving tackles from Walmsley and Jacob, while Brad Izod and Will Middleton contributed to the defensive effort. Marshall was again in action when he produced a fine double save. Hereford eventually made the break through when in the 72nd minute when a crisp shot gave Marshall no chance. Evesham began to press following this, and Jack Beardsell finished a good run with a shot which the Hereford keeper was able to collect. As time ran out Hereford broke forward and scored a second goal to finish the game.

Evesham Youth team are at home again next Monday (26th September) when they entertain Dudley Town in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Cup, with a 7.45 kick off.  Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.
