Impressive Evesham United maintained their recent good form in the Calor League Division One South & West thanks to two second-half goals by striker James Vercesi at Wey Court. It`s now just one defeat in seven for manager Paul Collicutt since taking over the hot-seat and second win on the road for United this season. Youngster Ed Williams enjoyed his second appearance on loan from League Two Cheltenham Town, having a hand in all three goals.

Despite the long journey, Evesham were quickly out of the blocks and took an eight-minute lead when Williams` pace took him past two defenders before crossing low to Carl Brown who sent a first-time shot past Zaki Oualah for his 7th goal of the season. The hosts threatened briefly when Jack Broome`s free-kick was well held by John Bateman but most of the action took place at the opposite end. A Lee Davis pile-driver flashed inches wide and Neil Barnfield screwed his shot agonisingly off target following a well executed Richard Mansell free-kick.Allton Axton was then denied when his header was hacked off the line by defender Jack Macfarlane.

A second goal for the Robins was on the cards and duly arrived eleven minutes into the second-half, Vercesi met Williams` corner from the left with a powerful header that gave Oualah no chance. The Gs struggled for a response but did manage to pull one back when Graeme Purdynetted from the penalty spot after Nick Hutchings had been tripped in the box. Evesham immediatly went up the other end to make it 3-1 two minutes later, with another Vercesi header from Williams` pin-point free-kick. Jon Palmer offered Gadalming a glimmer of hope reducing the deficit again with a near post flick but Evesham easily saw out time with Vercesi going close to grabbing a hat-trick with a sublime header that rolled just past a post.

United return to Surrey next Saturday to face Guildford City (3pm.) looking to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
