Histon face a replay away to Evesham on Wednesday after being held to a a goalless draw in their FA Cup, second qualifying round tie.

Nick Freeman and James Akintunde both had early chances well saved by Evesham keeper Kevin Sawyer.

But in an end-to-end opening period, Sean Wood fired wide at the other end while Enol Ordonez had to be alert to stop Elliot Kennedy sneaking a shot in at the near post.

Ordonez was also called into action to pluck Lance Smith’s header out of the sky from a Wood free kick.

Joe Burgess had a header hacked off the line for Histon midway through the first half, but from there the best opportunities fell to the visitors before the break .

Smith went close after a spell of pressure in the home penalty area, while Ordonez was called upon to come out of his area and head clear after Smith raced on to a long ball forward from Kennedy.

Sawyer was forced to save with his feet early in the second half to prevent Joe Peacock firing home after good work by Freeman.

But chances proved to be few and far between after the break as both sides struggled to create much in the final third.

Histon could still have snatched it in the closing stages though, with substitute Mateusz Kuzimski and Freeman both testing Sawyer, but instead they will have to do it all over again in midweek.
