Evesham United have the chance to claim a record-breaking 12th successive league win at Didcot Town tonight (7.45pm) according to the Worcester News.

In the 1967-68 campaign, the Robins won the opening 11 games on their way to becoming Worcestershire Combination champions.

Paul Collicutt’s men equalled the record run with a 3-2 victory over Salisbury on Saturday in Southern League Division One South and West.

Evesham’s boss now wants his players to make history.

“I believe the record is 11, so hopefully we can beat that,” said Collicutt, whose side went on a 10-match winning streak at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

Evesham, who have not dropped league points since drawing 0-0 with AFC Totton on September 10, are in second place and on a crest of a wave.

However, having let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 with 10th-placed Didcot in August, Collicutt feels his side will have their “work cut out” to continue the run.

“The lads are in good spirit but Didcot is a difficult place to go,” he said.

“We drew against them earlier in the season, so I want to put things right like we did against Salisbury.

“But Didcot are in good form and are one of only a few teams who have taken points off Hereford, so we have got our work cut out.”
