Attacking midfielder Lee Smith is in the frame to make his debut for Evesham United at Cinderford Town tonight (7.45pm).

The 31-year-old, has linked up with the Robins after leaving Hungerford Town. Smith has bagged six goals for the Southern League Premier Division outfit this term, having previously hit 38 for Cirencester Town last season, and will be looking to help fire Evesham’s promotion push.

Paul Collicutt’s side are fourth in Division One South and West and victory at 12th-placed Cinderford would move them above Stratford into third. The Evesham manager said: “A player of Lee’s calibre doesn’t become available very often so we were interested and he will certainly add quality to the squad.”

But Smith may have to settle for a place on the bench with Collicutt wary of changing a team that won 7-0 at Bashley on Saturday.

However, keeper Kevin Sawyer will return after competing his two-game ban, taking the place of Chippenham loanee Conor Thompson.

Collicutt said: “You can only beat what is put in front of you and Bashley made life difficult for us in the first-half but we stepped up a gear in the second-half. It’s difficult to criticise a team after winning 7-0 but there is room for improvement.”

Striker Lance Smith is back in the reckoning after missing the Bashley game through work commitments, but midfielder Elliot Kennedy is a doubt due to illness.
