Evesham United skipper Matt Sysum will make his comeback from suspension in Saturday’s home match against Didcot Town (3pm) according to the Gloucestershire Echo.

The central defender has been forced to wait, with Tuesday’s trip to Swindon Supermarine falling victim to the weather.

Liam Harding is out for two weeks, but the midweek postponement has allowed several players to recover from knocks picked up in last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Wimborne Town.

Eighth-placed Evesham have lost only once in their last 12 Southern League Division One South and West games and Collicutt knows they are well-placed for another assault on the play-off positions.

“We have 17 games left and that is a lot of football,” Collicutt said.

“We were further down the table last year, when we put a run together than is going to be hard to match, but touch wood we can be up there again.

“I’ve looked at the run-in and it’s certainly going to challenge us, so we need a bit of luck with keeping everyone fit and free of suspensions.”

The title does now look beyond Evesham’s reach, with Cinderford Town’s 1-0 win at Bridgwater Town on Tuesday night taking them 15 points clear of Collicutt’s side with a game in hand, but Evesham are only five points outside the play-offs.

Collicutt remains keen on adding at least one new face to strengthen his options, with Jared Wilson about to miss a run of games due to his wedding and honeymoon.

“I am keeping my ear to the ground and although I am happy with the squad as long as everyone is fit and available, we are going to have to play a lot of games and it is always good to have options,” he said.

“We really don’t want to lose any more matches to the weather, or any more matches full stop!”
