Evesham`s FA Cup dreams were ended at the Kirkby Road Sports Ground on Tuesday night with Barwell easing through to meet Ilkeston in the Second Qualifying Round on Saturday 17th September.

The Northern Premier League outfit looked a different kettle of fish to the one that escaped with a 2-2 draw at the Jubilee Stadium three days earlier.

In the first half especially, United`s defensive back-three were constantly stretched by the pace of Joel Bell and Tyrell Shannon-Lewis and rode their luck at times to still be in the game at just one-nil down at half-time.

Things improved slightly in the second half but Max Smith-Varnam in the Canaries goal didn`t have a direct shot to save during the 90 minutes which was bitterly disappointing for another good following that United took with them to Leicestershire.

The home side went ahead after a period of pressure through Brady Hickey`s 32nd minute penalty after Joel Bell had been sent tumbling by Will Wellon. Paul Fahy went close with United`s first shot at goal on the hour but Barwell wrapped the tie up eleven minutes from the end with substitute Reece Mitchell firing home past Kevin Sawyer.

UNITED:

Sawyer, Dovey, Wellon (Binns 69), Turley (Pearson 60), Sysum, B.Williams, Kennedy (Jeanne 50), A.Williams, Mann, Smith, Fahy.

Subs not used: Bryan, Gilder, Harding, Sheehan

Referee: Mr A.Dallison (Nottingham)

Attendance: 204
