Evesham United are hoping Elliot Kennedy won’t be missing for too long after his injury scare against Stratford Town writes Steve Carley of the Worcester News.

The Bank Holiday Monday match, which the Robins won 2-0, was stopped for nearly an hour after the midfielder landed awkwardly on his neck attempting an overhead kick. He was taken to hospital in Warwick but has since been released.

Kennedy has been ruled out of tomorrow’s FA Cup preliminary round home match against Kidsgrove Athletic (3pm).

Manager Paul Collicutt said: “I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, it just depends how he responds to physiotherapy.”

The winners of the tie will pick up a cheque for £1,925 and be rewarded with a home fixture against Redditch United in the First Qualifying Round.  Kidsgrove play at the same level as Evesham in the Northern League.

Two other players are also on the road to recovery with strikers Marcus Palmer and Carl Brown nearing fitness. The pair have not been involved so far this season due to respective hamstring and knee problems but are continuing to make progress.
