Evesham`s hopes of a decent run in the Buildbase FA Trophy came to an end at the Special Effect Stadium on Wednesday when Jon Davies` second-half goal was enough to book Frome a Second qualifying round tie at Hanwell Town on Saturday 12th November. United should have wrapped the tie up in the first game but let Frome off the hook and paid the price on a freezing cold evening in north Somerset. The deciding goal arrived in the 63rd minute through Davies, who also got Frome`s equaliser in the first game and despite late United pressure the Evo-Stik Premier Division outfit held on to bank the £2,700 prize money. United were forced to make one change with Lorcan Sheehan who suffered a dead leg in the first match dropping to the bench and Leroy Odiero starting at left-back with Nick Stanley moving into a more accustomed midfield role. Ashley Williams who saw red at the Jubilee Stadium took part before starting a three game suspension at Barnstaple Town on Saturday.

United looked the brighter in the first-half and on the balance of play were unlucky not to hold an interval lead. The pace and trickery of Paul Fahy was always a threat to the home side and twice in the opening fifteen minutes he set a cross-cum-shot inches wide and had a goalbound effort blocked by defender Chris Gregan. Adam Mann then had the best chance to fire the Robins ahead but in front of goal he pulled his shot wide after good work by leading scorer Lance Smith. United though had a let-off leading up to half-time when Davies thumped a shot against the woodwork with Kevin Sawyer beaten at his near post.

As in the first encounter, United shaded the opening 45 minutes but Frome upped their game in the second-half without causing too many alarms at the back for United. But the deadlock and winning goal came about just past the hour mark with George Miller finding Davies who fired the home side

ahead. With the clocking ticking down, United pressed for an equaliser leading to some frantic goalmouth action with a range of shots being blocked and eventually cleared to safety. Unfortunately, United couldn`t find a way through and it was the Frome players and supporters  who were celebrating at the final whistle.
