A Brandon Barnes double was enough to send Evesham United crashing to their 9th home defeat in the Evo-Stik Southern South & West Division.

Despite missing a 3rd minute penalty after Nick McCootie had been brought down in the box, the midfielder made amends after 21 minutes taking advantage of some sloppy defending before firing past debutant keeper Ben McNamara who had earlier saved his spot-kick.

Leigh Downing and then Leon Kandekore threatened briefly for the hosts before Barnes extended Paulton`s lead four minutes before half-time. McCootie`s threaded pass sent Barnes clear and he easily beat the advancing McNamara.

James Billing should have made it 3-0 on the hour but managed to blaze high and wide of an open goal after being set-up by substitute Joe Bushin.

Striker Luke Corbett curled a free-kick over the Paulton crossbar and with seconds remaining McNamara produced a fine point-blank save at his near post to prevent Bushin from making it three.
