Evesham United failed to make it three Evo-Stik Southern South & West wins in a week after losing 2-1 against in-form Shortwood United. Two first-half goals was enough to clinch a league double for the Nailsworth club who won by the same scoreline at Meadowbank earlier in the season.

Despite slipping to their 8th home defeat of the season, it was Evesham who opened the scoring
in the 6th minute. Will Gayton`s long throw was cleared as far as Jamie Hyde and the veteran midfielder lashed in a fine volley past keeper Tom King. Shortwood looked danger-ous at set-pieces and from a Jake Parrot free-kick, Mark Pritchett`s diving
header pulled the visitors level with 16 minutes on the clock. The rest of the half belonged to Shortwood and in stoppage-time from another set-play they struck the winner. A short corner was played into the box where Terry Bohane was on hand to guide the ball beyond Tom Cross.

The second half was a scrappy affair with Shortwood content to sit on their lead and King was only worked once smothering well to deny Marcus Palmer who had created on opening down the right. Despite throwing keeper Cross up for a succession of free-kicks and corners at the death Evesham were unable to find a late equaliser.
