On a bright sunny afternoon Evesham Ladies played their last home game of the season in a rehearsal for their Cup Final game vs Ludlow in a fortnight’s time. However, Ludlow were struggling with injuries and only travelled with 10 players.

It was no surprise that Evesham took the game to Ludlow from the start and in only the 2nd minute Katie Armento rushed on to a through ball and chipped the ball passed the keeper to open the scoring. Ludlow were struggling to cope with the forward play and extra numbers on the hosts side, however Katy Huntbatch was organising the back line causing Evesham to be regularly caught offside. Evesham did however keep plugging away and eventually Armento pounced again to double the lead. Evesham had now got the bit between their teeth and Armento then added a third to complete her hat-trick before half time.

Evesham again made changes at half time with captain Rosie Johns being replaced in goal by Hannah Campbell and Millie Meadows moving up front from centre back for the second match in a row. Tor Rawlings, making her comeback to the Ladies after two years away at University, and Jessica Newman came on at right and left back respectively. These changes lifted the tempo in the Evesham camp and it wasn’t long before they scored again, Armento again on the score sheet for her fourth.

Evesham continued to be caught offside by Ludlow’s high defensive line and Campbell along with defenders Katy Meadows and Kelly Fowkes had to be alert to the isolated Ludlow attack. However Millie Meadows was causing the visitors defence new problems with her energy and strength and got on the score sheet for the third week running with a coolly taken goal. She soon scored a second as Ludlow were starting to tire, Paige Williams another substitute being influential in the build up.

Evesham had the visitors pegged back and Johns who had now moved up into attack got on the score sheet with another headed goal. Meadows continued to hunt for her hat-trick but the third just eluded her before the ref blew for full time. Evesham Ladies stay at the top of the league with three games to play.

Players of the Match were given to Katy Huntbatch and Katie Armento for Ludlow and Evesham Utd Ladies respectively.

Next game is away at Wyre Forest on Sunday 6th April KO 2.00pm
