Evesham extended their unbeaten run to ten games in the Evo-Stik Southern South & West Division despite being held to a goalless draw by play-off hopefuls Yate Town in blustery conditions at the Jubilee Stadium. The result ended eight straight wins for the Robins but another clean sheet makes it seven in nine games for Paul Collicutt`s side. United remain in fifth spot but edged closer to sides above them with Stratford and Didcot both losing, while leaders Merthyr Town had the afternoon off after their game at North Leigh was postponed.

The gale force wind made life difficult for both sides and with Yate content to sit deep, Evesham were unable to make the breakthrough and the impressive winning streak finally came to an end. The first opportunities of an even first half fell to Yate`s Jake Cox who fired a long range effort wide and then leading scorer Jordon Rogers who has 11 goals to his name, landed a header on the roof of Kevin Sawyer`s net. The silky George Washbourne used his pace to good effect down the left to create a couple of openings for United but on both occasions nobody was on hand to apply the finishing touches. Evesham came closer before half-time when Adam Mann under pressure from Cox, just failed to turn in Sean Wood`s free- kick at the far post.

United grew more into the game in the second half, dominating possession and looking the more likely to score. Mann couldn`t get Washbourne`s delivery on target and after a period of pressure Martin Horsall in the Bluebell`s goal saved well from the busy Nick Stanley. Yate did look dangerous on the counter-attack and went close themselves when Charlie Hitching`s header brushed the top of the crossbar and the flying Sawyer produced a top class stop to deny Cox. Back came Evesham, Mann`s overhead-kick flew inches over and then after neat skills on the edge of the box, Mann cannoned a shot against a post with Horsall rooted to his line. United substitute Marcus Jackson sent over a succession of teasing crossers and despite a flurry of late corners, Yate weathered the storm to prevent the Red and Whites maximum points for the first time since 29th November.
