Evesham returned to winning ways easing to victory over Burnham at the Jubilee Stadium in the Evo-Stik Southern South & West Division. It ended a run of four games without a win for the Robins who scored twice in each half to inflict Burnham`s heaviest league defeat of the season.
The Red and Whites welcomed back captain Matt Sysum from suspension and midfielder Louis McGrory started the last game of his second month on-loan from Vanarama National League leaders Forest Green Rovers.
In United`s first attack striker Lance Smith thumped a volley against the Burnham crossbar but it wasn`t long before Adam Mann got free thanks to Smith`s flick-on and rounded Blue`s keeper Ben Hitchins to fire Paul Collicutt`s men into a 4th minute lead. Burnham who turned up with only twelve players, found themselves
up against it for the remainder of the game but defended in depth and conceded only once more before half-time. This came about after 37 minutes when Carl Brown was fouled and from Nick Stanley`s inswinging free kick, the unmarked Sysum ghosted in to prod home beyond the helpless Hitchins to make it 2-0. Then for a second time in the half, Clayton Green found the back of Hitchin`s net only to have both efforts disallowed for offside by an assistant`s raised flag.

Smith scored third

The hardworking Smith suffered the same fate early in the second half and on the hour a post denied Green after good work by Mann. Substitute Jacob Sloggett then became the third Evesham player to rattle the visitor`s woodwork before Smith turned his marker at the near post in the 74th minute to sweep-in goal number three after neat build-up play from youngster Sloggett. An encouraging afternoon`s work by United was then completed with a fourth goal two minutes from time by the turbo-charged Sloggett, who saw off the challenge of three Burnham defenders and confidently beat Hitchins to score his first goal for the club after his move from Bath City earlier in the month.
