Evesham travelled the short distance to newcomers Slimbridge looking for their first victory of the season in the Evo-Stik Southern South & West but had to settle  for a hard earned point in a dour struggle at Wisloe Road. United who are notoriously slow starters, looked a pale shadow of the
side that reached the play-offs last season and are still to find the back of the net after two games.
Robins manager Paul Collicutt made one change to the starting line-up that lost against Yate Town four days earlier. Slimbridge old boy Liam Harding replaced Jared Wilson, while Lance Smith who has still to start a league game failed a late fitness test on an ankle injury.
On a poor pitch, the first half was instantly forgettable with passes going astray and most of the play confined to midfield. There was little improvement after half-time, until the introduction of
Clayton Green just past the hour mark. United then moved up a gear and went on to look the more threatening of the two sides for the remainder of the game. Substitute Adam Mann got himself into a couple of good positions but fired wide and Ashley Edenborough did likewise after good work down the left by the lively Green. In a rare breakaway by the home side, the United defence was caught napping when Sean Lawson showed a good turn of pace but the Slimbridge striker pulled his shot wide with keeper Kevin Sawyer beaten. United hit back and went on to dominate to the final whistle but despite all their endeavour failed to make the breakthrough.

Matt Sysum went closest for the Robins from Sean Wood`s flag-kick when the skipper`s header looked destined for the top corner but was superbly turned over at full stretch by `Bridge stopper Dave Evans. Further half chances fell United`s way but were not taken and the home side weathered the storm to leave Paul Collicutt`s side still searching for that elusive first win.
