For the second time this season, Wimborne scored six times against Evesham United to complete an emphatic Calor League Division One South & West League double. It was an afternoon to forget for the Robins who also had stand-in `keeper Louie Barnfather sent-off at the end of the first period and were forced to play goalkeeping coach Gary Baines between the sticks for the remainder of the game. Debutant Barnfather, took over the gloves from the ever-present John Bateman who picked-up a hip injury during the Boxing Day victory at Stratford Town.

It all began positively for United when Lance Smith tucked away Marcus Palmer`s low cross to give the home side a 5th minute lead. But in Wimborne`s first attack on goal, the Dorset side pulled level on 29 minutes when Sam Griffin got on the end of a left-wing cross to send a header beyond the diving Barnfather.

The match then changed dramatically when Wimborne scored twice in the final two minutes of the half. Barnfather gifted the Magpies a second goal when he lost possession with the ball at his feet allowing Wimborne`s leading scorer Mark Gamble to walk the ball into an empty net. Things got worse for the unfortunate Barnfather moments later when the former Bishops Cleeve stopper was harshly adjudged to have fouled Gamble in the box and was subsequently sent-off by referee Mr Cheosiaua. Gamble got up to score past replacement Baines from the penalty-spot.

Evesham`s hopes were lifted when Smith got on the end of Jared Wilson`s through-ball a minute into the second-half and beat Jason Harvell with a drive intothe corner of the net. United then enjoyed a spell of pressure looking to get back on level terms but two goals by George Webb both powerfully put away gave Wimborne a commanding 5-2 lead. Baines then took centre stage making a string of impressive saves to keep the rampaging Town forwards at bay but was beaten with the game approaching stoppage-time when Gamble lashed in his third and Wimborne`s sixth with a crisp finish into the roof of the net.
